Privacy Policy

IELTS Drill (“we”, “us”) operates the website ieltsdrill.com and the practice-test application at app.ieltsdrill.com from India. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the service, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. For anything this page does not answer, write to [email protected].

• Account details. Your email address, display name, and a securely hashed password when you register. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from Google instead of a password.
• Study profile. Optional preparation details you set during onboarding: your target band, exam variant (Academic or General Training), and exam date.
• Test content. Everything you produce while taking a test: written essays, typed and selected answers, and — for the Speaking module — audio recordings of your voice together with the transcripts made from them.
• Support messages. Anything you send us by email, including refund requests.

• Usage records. Which tests you started and submitted, your scores and feedback reports, timing, and your credit balance and its history.
• Technical data. IP address and basic request metadata, used for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting. Standard server logs are kept briefly for troubleshooting.
• Cookies. We use essential cookies only: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, a signed guest identifier if you take a test without an account, and your theme preference. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies.

Payments are processed by Razorpay, our payment gateway. Your card, UPI, or netbanking credentials are entered directly into Razorpay’s PCI-DSS-compliant checkout and never touch our servers. What we store is the bookkeeping around the payment: the pack you bought, the amount, the Razorpay order and payment identifiers, and the payment status. We keep these records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, even if you later delete your account. • To run the service: create your account, deliver tests, mark your answers, build your reports, and track your progress over time.
• To operate the credit system: record purchases, debit a credit when you submit a test, and show you your balance and history.
• To keep the service safe: enforce rate limits, detect abuse and payment fraud, and protect other users.
• To respond when you contact us for support or a refund.
• To meet legal obligations, such as tax record-keeping for payments.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not send marketing email. Messages from us are limited to the service itself (for example payment receipts, which Razorpay sends on our behalf).

Marking Writing and Speaking requires artificial-intelligence models. To score your work and generate feedback, your essays, speaking recordings, and their transcripts are sent to third-party AI providers — currently OpenRouter, Google (Gemini), and Groq — solely for transcription, scoring, and feedback generation. We send only what marking needs, and we do not use your answers to train models of our own. These providers process the data under their own terms as our processors. Band scores produced this way are practice estimates and are not official IELTS results.

• Service providers. Hosting and database infrastructure, object storage for audio files, the AI providers named above, and Razorpay for payments — each only receives what its role requires.
• Google. Only if you choose Google sign-in, to authenticate you.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose data where the law requires it or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

There is no other sharing: no data brokers, no advertisers, no analytics companies.

You can take one test without an account. It is stored against an anonymous identifier kept in a cookie on your device. If you sign up afterwards, that test — and its report — is attached to your new account and counts as your free first test. Unclaimed guest data may be deleted automatically after a period of inactivity.

• Speaking audio is deleted automatically 7 days after your test. Your report is built from the transcript and timing measurements, which stay with your results; the audio is only kept while a transcript could still need re-checking.
• Reports, essays, and scores are kept for as long as your account exists, so your history and progress remain available to you.
• Payment and credit records are kept for the period tax and accounting law requires.
• Account deletion.You can permanently delete your account and everything associated with it — including any voice recordings still inside the 7-day window — at any time from Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible; only the legally required payment records survive it.

All traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS, data is stored with reputable infrastructure providers that encrypt at rest, passwords are stored only as salted hashes, payment credentials never reach us, and administrative access to production data is restricted to the operator. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will inform you as the law requires.

You can access and correct your profile from Settings, and delete your account yourself as described above. Subject to applicable law — including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 — you may also ask us for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct or erase it, or raise a grievance about how it has been handled, by writing to [email protected]. We respond within the timelines the law prescribes.

The service is intended for people preparing for the IELTS exam and is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use the service after a change means the updated policy applies.
